Babae through this project will increase engagement of seniors from urban and
rural areas and broaden their social connections. Engaging seniors in lively conversations,
social interaction, learning cultural dances, etc will result to increased self-confidence, improve
mental & physical health and quality of life.
This project will cater to seniors and older adults who live in Calgary and those in the rural
areas. The goal is to address the pressing issues faced by the senior communities across
Alberta, such as social isolation leading to mental health concerns such as depression, sadness
and despair, as well as health deterioration due to lack of sustained and meaningful physical
activities and loss of mobility.
Our project aims to alleviate this by providing an avenue for seniors to connect and build strong
friendships with their peers and improve their overall health and well-being in the process.
It will be a fun-day of conversation and interaction. It will foster a sense of community and
belonging that will help bridge the divide among our seniors that have been severely
disadvantaged by the COVID pandemic.
